When was the last time you assessed you?

That’s right.  When was the last time you took the time to evaluate and truly connect with you?  We rush through our days at work, at school, caring for family members, doing everything but connecting with the most important person in our lives . . . ourselves.

We do no one any good, especially ourselves, if we ignore our needs.  Take the time out of each day, even if it is only for a matter of minutes, to touch base with a part of you.  Come up with your own game plan. Start with the parts which are the most problematic.  Or start at your feet and slowly make your way towards your head or vice versa.  Evaluate your range of motion.  Is your right more easily accomplished than your left?  Where does it hurt?  Does it snap crackle or pop?  Take notes if you wish.  It’s an excellent method to monitor your progress or lack thereof.

Schedule a set of posture photos so you have a visual as well as mental illustration of your current alignment.  Don’t wait until you lose the weight you have been hoping to lose or whatever excuse you continue to blame for your lack of decision making.  Make the decision to start now.

Research shows that strengthening your posture improves balance, energy levels, functional motion, confidence, deep breathing, stress management, sports performance, appearance, optimism and your ability to age well.

When you are in class or running or walking to your car, or shopping, connect with your body.  Assess what you are feeling.  Become more aware of your motions and the connections throughout your body . . . it’s all connected.

What happens in your feet will make its way to your hips.  Your body will compensate and adapt to the imperfections in your structure.  You will be glad you started listening to your body and heeding its message.
