Real people. Real pain. Real results. Since 2007.
How It Started
Dave couldn't stand for any length of time. Peggy couldn't sit. Between them they had enough pain to fill a medical textbook — and a pile of doctors telling them to just accept it.
Doctors recommended seven different surgeries for Dave. He had zero. Instead he reversed type 2 diabetes, resolved chronic pain, and transformed his health through movement, real food, and a revolutionary approach to stretching that most people have never heard of.
That's the whole philosophy of RiversZen in nine words. Not a mission statement written by a committee. Just the truth about why two people who were broken decided to spend the next 15+ years helping others find the same freedom.
The Story That Started Everything
In 2012 a woman named Betsy walked through the door of RiversZen. She was bent over. She had a cane. She had tried everything — doctors, specialists, body work, yoga, rolfing, you name it. Every single one had failed her.
The medical establishment had thrown up their hands. They told her she was just getting old and would suffer for the rest of her life.
Dave and Peggy had just completed their first stretching certifications. They weren't even sure they were ready to take her on. Betsy was so broken — and they were so new.
They said yes. Within two months Betsy threw her cane away. She took her first bath in over 20 years. She went on to study nutrition and sent dozens of people to RiversZen.

Meet the Team
Three people who fixed themselves and dedicated their lives to helping you do the same.
At 55 Dave was facing seven surgeries and a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. He had zero surgeries, reversed his diabetes, and has been moving better every year since. He's been teaching since 2007 and opened RiversZen's first studio in 2012.
Peggy couldn't sit for any length of time. Movement and resistance stretching transformed her life. Her private sessions have helped hundreds of students resolve pain, move better, and reclaim their lives. "Because it fixed me and I want to share that."
Kim was told she'd be in a wheelchair by 25 due to scoliosis. A car accident added reverse vertebrae in her neck. Instead of accepting that story she found RiversZen — and never left. Her first class she was so nervous Peggy co-taught with her. The community welcomed her completely.
What Makes Us Different
Most fitness studios go one of two directions. Either it's all about pushing hard — prescribed strength training, no pain no gain, macho culture. Or it's all about mindfulness — flowery yoga language, static stretches, incense and intention.
RiversZen is neither. We take what actually works from every discipline and combine it into something that gets real results for real people — especially people who've been told they're too old or too broken to change.
No gimmicks. No judgment. No telling you what you can't do. Just movement that works, taught by people who needed it themselves.
Contracting muscles while stretching them — stronger and more flexible at the same time. The technique that changed everything for Dave and Peggy.
The movement without the mysticism. Real functional range of motion that translates to everyday life.
Ancient movement practices that reduce stress, improve circulation, and connect breath to body in ways modern fitness ignores.
Targeted self-massage and mobility work that addresses specific pain points most classes never touch.
We hold multiple certifications across everything we teach — resistance stretching, Qigong, yoga, breathwork and more. But we've never seen a certification heal someone's pain or change their life. Results do that. So that's what we focus on.
Whatever you've been told about your body — we'd like to respectfully disagree.
